How it works

One calm place to run your money

Working Dollars gives you a clear, step-by-step plan. You always know where you stand, and you always know what to do next.

Day one

Start in about five minutes

  1. Your pay

What lands in your account each month. A close guess is fine.

  2. Your accounts

Tap + for each checking, savings, card, or loan you have and type today’s balance. Rates and payments are filled in as estimates for you to check later.

  3. Your first budget, built for you

Your bills and debt payments are already in, with starting guesses for the big lines. Adjust them until they look like your real month.

  4. Where you stand

Your net worth today, your next dollar, and where your plan leads, like a debt-free date.

Once a month

See, Understand, Choose, Act

About 15 minutes at the start of each month. Each step feeds the next, so every month starts from what really happened.

  1. See

Type in each account’s month-end balance and your pay. Debt payments are filled in from your balances, so you confirm instead of retyping. No bank connection needed.

  2. Understand

Plan versus what happened, debt paid down and interest paid, how your net worth moved, and a simple check that your numbers add up.

  3. Choose

Give next month’s dollars a job with a zero-based budget. Itemize every category, or keep it simple: your bills and goals, plus one amount for everything else.

  4. Act

Make the moves your plan calls for at your bank, like an extra payment or a transfer to savings. Check them off, finish the month, and keep your streak going.

Share with someone you trust

A read-only view for a friend, accountant, counselor, or church contact. You choose what they see and for how long.

Sharing, on your terms

Want a friend, accountant, counselor, or church contact to see how you’re doing? Only you can create a share, and only you can end it. They sign in with a one-time code we email them. It’s free for them, and they must be 18 or older.

If you share a household with a partner, you’re both owners. Neither of you can share the other’s information without that partner’s own OK.

Working Dollars doesn’t recruit, vet, certify, or endorse the people you share with.

You decide

  • Which debts they see, and optionally accounts and balances, budget, and net worth
  • Whether totals and notes show
  • How long it lasts: 30, 60, or 90 days, with one-click renewal
  • When they viewed your information, shown to you

They can’t

  • Edit balances or log payments
  • Move money
  • See your bank passwords (we don’t have them)
  • Keep access after it ends or you turn it off
